John Sawyer
DOB: (10/07/1789 - 08/28/1850)
Married:(06/07/1815)
Maria
(09/??/1794 - 02/21/1867)
Note: On the 1850 census for Schuyler County MO, John Sawyer is listed as being 60
years old. This census was taken during the first quarter of the year of 1850.
John had not had is birthday yet that year and was listed as 60, which would of
made him 61 in Oct. that year if he was born in Oct. I get Oct. 7, 1794 from my
Grandfather Henry's paper, but that would of made him only 55 when the census
was taken. According to court records, James Hepburn was made Administrator of
John's estate on Sept. 9, 1850. Maria was listed as Mariah on the 1850 census at
the age of 56. Both were listed as born in Delaware. I have seen Maria's name as Mariah, and Boman, Borman and Bowman, Grandpa
Henry had it as Boman. All the other names and dates match to other family trees
I have found them in. Maria is barried in Zion Cemetery in Wapello County, south of Ottumwa Iowa on
Copperhead RD next to Son William and both wifes. Nancy on his left and Sarah on
his right V

To: John Don Carlos In Henry's list of Children, I find two girls not mentioned in other's list I
have found. They are the two youngest listed above. Also from Grandpa Henry's notes: "John Sawyer was born in Ohio, his wife Mary
Boman was born in Delaware, their children lived in Indianna as I have been
told, my father which was the oldest. And I see a record showing my Aunt Lacy
which was the youngest of the family born in Vermillion County Indianna."
From census records, I find the some of the children list Ohio, Indiana and
Illonis as their place of birth. Vermillion County Indiana has a historical web
site and lists a John Sawyer as an early settlers of the county.SAWYER FAMILY TREE
